1 November 2021 Staff at ADESA UK, the digital car remarketing business based on Chester Industrial Park, put on their walking boots in September to raise more than £7,800 for Maggie’s Wirral, the care centre supporting local people impacted by cancer and their families.
The month-long Step-tember Challenge was prompted after ADESA UK employee Katie Anderson was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer in July.
Katie shortly began her treatment and was helped by Maggie’s Wirral who provided practical and emotional support during treatment, and for this reason the business wanted to raise money for the centre.
At the beginning of September, ADESA UK launched its month-long Step-tember Challenge with staff tasked to raise sponsorship by walking as much as possible and to keep track of their steps.
By the end of the month, the business had completed 4,847,338 steps, the equivalent of 1,685 miles or walking from Chester to Barcelona and back again, raising a whopping £7,802.
